Bulbophyllum vaginatum information

Bulbophyllum vaginatum is a small plant that grows in mangrove, lowland, open secondary, mixed, and peat swamp forests in Thailand, Malaysia, Java, and Borneo. It can grow at sea level up to 600 meters. It is an epiphyte, which means it grows on other plants, and has one leaf per bulb. The bulbs are oval-shaped and yellow, with a 2-inch gap between each one.

The plant blooms in late winter and again in the summer or fall, producing a slender, 4.75-inch-long stem with 4 sheaths and 12 to 15 small, white, filamentous flowers that resemble fireworks.

To grow this plant, it is recommended to use a wood slat basket or tree fern and keep it in hot temperatures with partial shade and high humidity.
