Information about Dendrobium albosanguineum
Flower Size: 2 to 3 5/8″ (5 to 9 cm)
Residing in the realms of Myanmar and Thailand, Dendrobium albosanguineum emerges high amidst the canopies of lofty trees. Flourishing at elevations ranging from 300 to 600 meters, this species embraces a small to medium-sized, hot to warm growing, epiphytic lifestyle. Its robust, clustered pseudobulbous canes boast stout, subclavate or cylindric shapes, generously adorned with distinctive nodes and enrobed in white sheathing bracts.
Accompanied by light green, somewhat translucent, deciduous leaves, this orchid takes center stage in spring. Its short, 2 to 7 flowered raceme delivers fragrant, fleshy, and remarkably long-lasting blooms. These exquisite flowers emanate from the upper nodes of more mature leafed and leafless canes, adding to their allure. For a well-deserved respite, Dendrobium albosanguineum seeks a semi-dry winter rest, making it a fascinating and captivating member of the orchid kingdom.
