Trichoglottis triflora Introducing the Three-Flowered Trichoglottis, also known as Mao She Lan in China. This orchid species is native to southwestern Thailand and Vietnam, where it thrives in cool forest environments at elevations of 1100 to 1200 meters. As a miniature-sized, monopodial epiphyte, it grows on tree trunks with clustered erect stems that carry 6 to 7 recurved leaves. The leaves are distichous-equitant, obtuse and unequally bilobed apically, often conduplicate. In the spring and summer, short, axillary, 2 to 5 flowered inflorescences bloom, with the flowers held close to the stem. Each flower is only about 1/5 inch (0.5 cm) in size. For orchid enthusiasts who appreciate rare and unique species, the Three-Flowered Trichoglottis is a must-have addition to any collection.
