Dendrobium pulchellum

Quantity: 1 Plant Near Blooming size

Dendrobium pulchellum is a large-sized orchid found in various regions, including Assam (India), Bangladesh, eastern Himalayas, Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Yunnan (China), and Vietnam. It grows as an epiphyte, meaning it attaches itself to trees, in open deciduous forests. The orchid has an erect, slender stem that can grow up to 6 feet 6 inches (200 cm) long. As it matures, the stem takes on a purplish hue and is covered by purple-striped leaf sheaths. The leaves are persistent, linear-oblong, with a cordate base and either obtuse or acute tips.

Dendrobium pulchellum blooms from late winter to spring. Its flowers are fragrant and can last for a long time. The inflorescence, which is several flowered, droops and can be .8 to 5 inches (2 to 30 cm) long. The flowers emerge laterally from nodes near the apex of leafed and leafless canes.

In its natural habitat, this orchid can be found at elevations ranging from 70 to 2200 meters. It is adaptable to various temperature ranges, from hot to cool environments. This makes it a hardy and versatile orchid species, appreciated by orchid enthusiasts for its beauty and charming fragrance.
